Reminder

If you are a "non-responder or OpenID-er" which to me means I have no way of responding to a comment that you've left, please leave a way for me to get in touch with you, especially if you're participating in a blog give-away or if you are asking for information or links.
By leaving your email within your comment, I can find you. I realize that this is sometimes a scary thing to do with scams and all but if you disguise the email as say.....
me at yahoo dot com
this is the perfect way to hide from the unwanted eye. So please help me out if you are one of the non-responders.
Thank you, in advance.....Ravelly Rhonda!!

Mug Rug Thursday

The winner of  Mr. Peanut is

Vicki H.
There's a story behind the drawing for Mr. Peanut.
My granddaughter, Ayden pulled the name from a baseball cap I had laying around while asking all kinds of questions.
Ayden: GoGo, why do I have to pick a name from that hat?
Me: Well, it's only fair that everyone who commented gets a chance.
Ayden: GoGo, why can't we use the John Deere cap, I like it better?
Me: Well, sure, but I'm not sure where it is.
Ayden: GoGo, you're pulling my leg. You know where it is..........(Lots of giggles...BTW, she is learning to kidding around....sigh!!!)
Me: Ayden, just pull a name, before I really pull your leg!
Ayden: K! Then can I have cookies??
Me: Only if you can pull them from the John Deere cap!
She thought this statement was very funny.  So, congratulations to Vicki H. Just leave a comment so that we can get together via email.

"An Eye for Coffee" is the next mug rug give-away. Notice the corporate eyebrow.....LOL
Leave a comment and I'll draw a name in two weeks. Will announce a winner February 6th.
Note: Remember I'm now doing mug rug give-aways every two weeks this year.
I've enjoyed making the rugs but this year I've joined a group of ladies who make quilts for nursing homes, shelters and other organizations so I'm a little stretched.

And The Winner Is........

The other day I posted a new BOW (Block of the Week) which I dubbed
"House Haunters"

As a small inspiration, I offered these 5 five inch squares.
So, the winner is
Congratulations Juanita!!
I used a wonderful Random Picker that I found on Google to help me out.
I just love how easy it was to operate. I'm not good when it comes to "widgets".....LOL
Juanita, just leave a comment and we can get together with emailing.

Here's the first block which I posted this past Wednesday. The pattern is free and you all are welcome to join in the fun. It's a great way to delve into your stash and find all those wonderful fabrics you've forgotten you had....at least that's what happens when I go digging in my stash...LOL

Trees-BOW

Block 2
is a mixture of several greens from the old stash with a brown trunk.
No hand embroidery in this block at this time. I might add a bird in flight somewhere.

There's still time to get in on "On The Fly" mug rug give-away. Just leave a comment
to be counted. I'll announce a winner July 18th.

Grand Plan Part 2 & Reminder

I'm still in the "no sew or press" stage. I'm only auditioning things. Each time I really like something I'll take a photo of it to remember what I doing....LOL
I found a great oak wood looking fabric that I creatively cut into my interpretation of a dead log and placed it from one side of my piece. This helps to create foreground and background.

Here I've added cattails, a couple of dragonflies, a grasshopper and a frog to the mix.

I knew I wanted my catfish jumping out of the water to appear to be going for a dragonfly, so this is what I've come up with so far.
If you are thinking about participating in the "Gone Fishin' " BOW (Block of the Week), there's plenty of time. The designs are free provided by me and can be found each Monday which started last week, until August.

I've now decided to add a little fun to the scene by adding a crane who has he eye on that catfish going for the dragonfly.
If anyone is interested in the crane just leave a comment because I did not include him in the designs but will if there's enough interest.

Here's a close-up of the crane. I love him because of the orange batik I used for the beak. There was a darker orange line running through the fabric that I used to define the top and bottom beak area.

Here's the overall view of what I'm thinking is going to be the top of my
"Gone Fishin' " quilt.
And remember, this is only the auditioning stage. Nothing has been sewn down are pressed into place. I'm just playing!!

Reminder
The Grosbeak Mug Rug will be given away tomorrow so there's still time to place your name in the hat if you haven't already.
Just click HERE and leave a comment on that post to be eligible.

Leafing Through The Year - BOM - Block #13

This is the final block.
Whew!
Don't ask me what the measurements are because I can't remember. I just went by measuring two blocks length from the leaf blocks then made a large enough square to stitch out the tree, I think. Hope that doesn't confuse you like it's confusing me at the moment!! Really, I just winged it.

I hope everyone enjoyed participating. I'd love to hear what you thought of this BOM.
I read every comment and they are always welcomed and helpful.

There's still time to get in the hat for this Mug Rug give-away. Just leave a comment stating that you want in & that's all it takes!! I'll draw a name is a day or so.

Mug Rug Give Away & Other Stuff

Here's the first Mug Rug give-away for 2013 from yours truly.
It's my version of a cozy log cabin in the woods. I love making these little quilts from unusual fabrics.
Anyone can participate for a chance to win it. All you need to do is leave a comment expressing that you want "in the hats" for the log cabin.

Here's, also, a reminder of the  "A Is for Aardvark" 6 1/2" squares give-away for those who are participating in the hand embroidery alphabet quilt project, shown below.  Just leave a comment about the squares on THIS LINK to be counted!!

Finally, I've made little to no progress on my shoes blocks but have several ideas thanks to you all out there in blogger-land. So stay tuned.

;-}

Don't count the days, make the days count!
