Junk Jounaling

Hi everyone!! For the moment, I'm out of the hay fields!! Shhhhhhh, don't cheer to loudly, we wouldn't want Mr. Cowboy to hear. BTW, it gets to around 103 degrees here in central Texas each day. What about where you live? I'm drinking water like it's going out of style.  But enough about that.

I'm back to junk journaling when I can find the time. here's some of my latest venture.

I made passports for several characters in my journal along with the storyline of the two Inspectors of this plot. Anyway, it's my fun way of keeping my brain stimulated........Oh dear, I think I hear Mr. Cowboy calling....bye for now!

Busy Me

I've been very busy lately with hay season winding down, creating & maintaining a web page for our community center, aiding in sponsoring a community-wide luncheon on Saturday & just finished up with my church's annual homecoming service. Mrs. B. & I posed for a quick photo amid the celebration. Whew! I'm exhausted but happy everything went well. What's happening in your world? I'd love to hear from you.

In & Out of Pocket

Isn't this little moth a beauty?  Ok, that's the science teacher still lodged deep within me. I've been retired for years but every time I see something I deem interesting, the camera comes out and I start snapping.
Now, to the reason I'm posting today. It's hay season around here so I'm kind of busy with that but also, I'm in somewhat of a slump when it comes to my quilting projects. I'm just not into anything sewing or fabric right now.....sigh.  I have been doing loads of reading on my Kindle and watching nature.  I've also been doing some canning, baking and testing new recipes.
Sometimes I feel a bit guilty about not sewing something, anything.
I think some of my problem has to do with the weather around here. It's been rainy and dreary and that's not the kind of weather I love. This is a real challenge.  I'm a summer, sunny, the hotter the better because I can always cool off easier than I can warm up, girl. I need the sun to shine for days!!!!!
So until that happens I suppose I'll be in the dumps for awhile.......sigh.  If it weren't for my wacky girlfriends, I probably would not talk to anyone.  Sorry to unload on all you blogger buddies and please understand, I'm really okay. I just want lots of sun. So if you're getting lots of sun please sent some my way. I'll love your forever.........hehehehehehehehe!!!

It's Wild Around Here

Warning!!!   Warning!!!   Warning, Will Robinson!!!!  Okay, sorry I couldn't help myself with that opening from Lost In Space which was one of my favorite TV shows way back when. But seriously, if you're squeamish, look away NOW!!!
All the photos were taken with my iPhone. It's a handle thing since my camera is always misplaced.

As most of you know who follow me, I live in the country where there are plenty of wild things lurking about. In the above photo you are seeing a mole.......dead, thanks to my cousin Clark. This critter had been wrecking my yard for weeks leaving giant mole mounds. Clark is the local mole exterminator & he offered to "take him out" so to speak.
He did it!!! The mole was very crafty but Clark was patient. Look at the teeth on this thing....OMG!!!
I'm sure this isn't the end of my mole problem but it sure feels good to know that the granddaddy of all moles is no longer.  Thank You Clark!!!
Update:  Here's the latest photo of little "Show Girl," Showee for short. She stopped, posed for me, even started towards me in curiosity, then backed up. She's so funny to watch. Fairly soon afterwards she realized that her mom had moved off so off she dashed with her little tail in the air.
This beauty was fluttering about as I was gathering up some fallen branches after the big storm the other night. I was able to get quite close for the pic. This photo doesn't lend the beautiful coloring.
Finally, this is a photo of a branch/creek that fun thru the back forty. I'm thinking of doing a mini quilt from this pic.....if I have enough energy after all the hay baling.  We'll see.
I hope everyone has a great weekend and a nice Mother's Day.

Belly of the Beast

That's Mr. Cowboy working on something inside one of his balers while I stand back chewing on my nails ready to pounce & grab him in case he gets stuck. I've watched TV shows where that sort of thing happened & no one was around to help. Luckily, all went well & the baler is up & running. Hay season is hard work with long hours. I've been busy in the kitchen cooking meals for the workers. No wonder sewing isn't in my near future.
What is everyone else up to??

;-}

Don't count the days, make the days count!
