National Quilt Day Part 2

I decided to piece the backing together in groups so this was group #1.
I then sewed on some Tumbler pieces from my UFO stash. Then added the small Disappearing Nine Patch quilt to that. This was group #2.
Group #3 came from a Nickel Square project from several years ago. To which I added more Tumblers.
Group #4 is a small quilt I made awhile back from my own design called Fractured Star.
I don't have a big enough display board to show the final piece but I'm so happy to have finished in a day. It measures 65" by 75" at this point which is big enough for a couple of quilts.
What did you do for National Quilt Day?

Mini Results

First, I'd like to thank those who have great opinions & suggestions yesterday. I really appreciate mt wonderful blogging friends.
After all the discussions about backgrounds, I still was struggling with a choice. Mr. Cowboy came in for a snack, read some of the comments, looked at the fabrics I'd laid out & in his way of cutting to the chase, wrote each number on Sticky Notes, folded them & drew the following.
So, I went with that.

It measures 9" by 11 1/2".
I quickly got it quilted & bound before I changed my mind.....lol
I've named it "The Rose!"
Then, I had to feed the Cowboy...sigh!

Boots, Vines and Broderie Perse & a Finish!

Boot block #9. This is the final block in this Block of the Week series although I stretched things out in two week intervals for a couple of weeks to make things easier for all.
This pair of boots are what I think of as more girly. Not because of the flowers added but because of the swirls and the tilt of one boot into the other.

Hand embroidered vines to add blossoms next.
After this block is all sewn down, I'll be putting all nine block together. Each block in my quilt measure 6 1/2 inches unfinished.
I had some borders in mind but changed my mind several times before all was said and done.

Here's the finished quilt which measures 21" square. I meandered around the boots and vines in a tight stipple so that each boot stands out.
I look forward to hearing from those who sewed along with me.

Painting with Fabric Workshop

Today I'm having a blast teaching a landscaping class. The ladies are excited and jumped right in.
I've planned some fun surprises throughout the day. Take a look...
Kits out & ready to be chosen.
Hard at work making tough decisions.
And then great results!!!
We all enjoyed a delightful day & I've made several new quilting friends.

Grape Jelly

Whew!
Here's a quick recap of my Mustang grape canning escapades ....
After fermenting over night. The smell is wonderful.
After boiling & simmering for an hour or so.
Here's how the grapes look after I pulverized them a couple of times.
Final results - 4qts, 8pts, 4 half pts.
There are loads more grapes on the vine but do I have the energy to pick and process them. Only time will tell but this old girl is tiring!!!!!!!
While I was canning my Cowboy came in from golfing with his buddies & had changed into his work boots to begin cutting in the hay fields. He decided to leave the golfing attire on. I just had to snap this photo.

Hi there everyone! Hope all is going well for you. It's not for me. I haven't been able to post photos lately so I'm trying this method from my phone. If it works I'll feel a bit better😳

Cucumber is the last block. I haven't figured out a way to post the pattern yet but I'll think of something.
Here's a look at all the blocks!

Strung Out Finale

I know, two posts in one day but I'm excited about this little quilt!!
I finished piecing my Strung Out Cowboy quilt. Final measurements 40 by 60 inches. I found, in my stash, a black with white barbed wire design for the stop border (click on photo to enlarge) and then I went with the piano keys as a second border partly because I had loads of strips left over and because it fits with this scrappy quilt.
Sorry about the camera angle. I think it had something to do with the operator of said camera....just sayin'!

Stash Bustin' Finale

I finished this quilt top early last week but was unable to post about it because my computer satellite dish died from, get this, the extra dry, hot, very hot Texas weather plus a couple of dewy mornings of moisture and voila... "cracked" thingy on the dish leading to NO Internet service.... OMG, I nearly went into more "wackiness".... it was really getting ugly around my house.... I couldn't check on what everyone in bloggerland was doing, couldn't check my email and couldn't surf the net..... Eeeeek! But now, thank goodness, I'm back!
Anyway, the photo isn't that good but hopefully you can see the first border is made from an assortment of 2 1/2 inch squares followed by a 3 inch floral border.  This was quick and fun and all fabrics came from my stash.
It's a great idea to go through your stash every so often, sort pieces and strips into colors and place where you can easily see what you're looking for. That's how I found most of the fabrics used in this quilt... LOL

;-}

Don't count the days, make the days count!
