Whew!

Where have I been? What have I been doing?  Well, not working on the above photo. Some of you may remember that project from months ago. Nope, I've been in my garden, weeding and picking cucumbers. Now, I'm knee deep with the 3 day canning process for sweet, delicious pickles. Trust me, they are yummy!
I'll be back on tract with quilting stuff by next week..... cross your fingers on that one!

String Challenge

This quilt some of you have seen before. It's from a black/white and focus fabric that Jackie sponsored a couple of years ago (sorry, I don't have Jackie's link at the moment but will post it ASAP). I'm posting about again because I finally, this morning, got it bound and it's now going to a wonderful teacher friend of mine.

My focus fabric is the rose floral that I found when I visited a quilt shop in San Antonio, Texas with my good friend, Jerri who has passed away but this fabric always reminds me of her...... she's the one who located it in the shop and shouted over several isles....... LOL
I used b/w strips from my stash and my friend, Kathleen quilted this wonderful quilt for me.

This is a view with four b/w corners sewn together and below with the rose fabric sewn together.
The quilt was "not" sewn on point but the black center strip given the illusion of on-point.

Finally, here's my little friend the honeybee pollinating my garden..... go little bee, go!!
Can you see the developing cucumber there?  I see canned sweet pickles in my future... LOL

Bees Do It

Being a retired science teacher, I just had to do a show and tell moment.  The first photo shows a little bee doing his/her thing by pollinating the blossom.  I was able to get very close because he/she was so busy buzzing around inside there.
The second photo shows the blossom turned under where the squash is developing.
This is one of those WOW moments..... nature is awesome, isn't it!

Garden Report

 The corn is silking up.....
The squash are being picked nearly everyday now.....
 The peppers are coming along......
and the purple cabbages are heading up........ now if I can just hold the ants off, everything will be fine.... LOL
It's been fairly cool here in central Texas, for a change and we've had a couple of really good rains.  So the garden if really doing well.

Too Cool for Snakes But .....

The snakes are most insects are freezing their little bottoms off but my garden is coming along nicely.  Here in central Texas the temperature is erratic, crazy, weird.  One day it's 75 degrees, the next 37 degrees.  So my little buddies the insects and snakes are so confused they don't know up from down which is great for me.......hehehehehehe
The squash, onions, tomatoes, strawberries, cabbage, corn and whatever else I planted are loving this weather.

Armed for Gardening

Let's see.....gloves-check, trowel-check, hat-check, seeds-check, plow-check, watering hose-check.........
What am I missing?  Oh, yea......shotgun-check.....you never know when some critter might appear to do you bodily harm.
Welcome to my meager garden in the country.  Let's hope something grows so that mom and I can enjoy the fruits of my labor, so to speak.
We have lots of deer around so I'm hoping this little fence will hold them off. I know it will keep the rabbits out.

Patiently Waiting

My tomatoes are s-l-o-w-l-y coming along. Of course, it does me no good to stand over them and watch....hehehehehehe! Although it is amazing to see the daily growth and development. My mouth is watering just thinking about how juicy those babies are going to taste.

Show Off

Had to show off the little onion from my garden and the peach from my peach tree. The ants are very interested in the peaches, I'm afraid. It's almost time to pick peppers and squash.....I can't wait.

;-}

Don't count the days, make the days count!
