Reminder

If you are a "non-responder or OpenID-er" which to me means I have no way of responding to a comment that you've left, please leave a way for me to get in touch with you, especially if you're participating in a blog give-away or if you are asking for information or links.
By leaving your email within your comment, I can find you. I realize that this is sometimes a scary thing to do with scams and all but if you disguise the email as say.....
me at yahoo dot com
this is the perfect way to hide from the unwanted eye. So please help me out if you are one of the non-responders.
Thank you, in advance.....Ravelly Rhonda!!

Stash Bustin' Time - Part 2

This is the design that inspired me. This one calls for blue and  tone-on-tone half square triangles but I had something else in mind.
Here's what I have so far. I like the layout and plan on sewing it together ASAP.
(each block measures 6 1/2")
I'll be auditioning border fabric early this week...... one of those "know it when I see it" borders.... LOL

I Recommend

I am recommending this great hand embroidery book
"A~Z of Embroidery Stitches."
I have been dabbling with hand embroidery for many years with little to no success.  I stumbled upon this book and was very pleased with the easy to follow instructions and great pictures.
This book gets to thumbs up!
I am using this book to aid me with my "Lazy Hearts" BOM.
February's instructions will be out very soon so stay tuned.

In The Meantime.......Flowery Florals

Taking a break from the "Band" quilt because all the students are on Spring Break, I decided to do a little cleaning and clears out of my stash..........when I found the above............oh dear!

This is one of those long term projects.....you know what I mean.....one that's been in a box for years...months.....you run across it, open it up.......oh yea, I remember that.....better start working on it.......again.............that's the one I'll refering to. Two of the bottom blocks you may recognize from the book I'm featuring on my sidebar ( Shadow Applique` ). I'm planning on making several more blocks..........more of the horizonal design.....I really don't have a specific size for the quilt which is kind of exciting. And I hope that I can make some headway towards finishing this baby before it finds it's way back into that box.

Sailin' Away

I sometimes venture into the world of paper piecing.......a few years back that was all I was into.....you know how that is.  I have lots of paper piecing books and designs.  The above boats and sails comes from "Paper Piecing Patterns" by Shirley Liby.  I'm going to, one day, make another one of these because I see that I  should have used a more solil reading blue or green for the ocean....LOL.....I found a blue scrap in my stash that would be perfect.  Maybe the sky fabric needs to be darker so that you can see the sails better......what do you think? I need input, please!

Give-Away/Great Read

Happy May everyone!!!!! It's time for the Followers Embroidery Give-Away.
Look what's up for grabs.....an apron with a cute cutlery pocket and very long ties. This apron is made from Aunt Grace "ties One On" from the collection of Judie Rothermel for Marcus Brothers Textiles, Inc. I trimmed the edges of the apron in black.
If you've been following my blog, you know that I'm really into aprons these days. It's a fever I've developed. There's a tutorial on our "Wacky" blog for the waist aprons. Anyway, remember the rules. You have to be a follower or become one to enter the drawing and you have to leave a comment on this post to be considered. The drawing will happen May 13th.
Hopefully by then, the rain will have let up enough for me to venture out to the neighbor's so that he can pull a name out of the hat..............(long story....hehehehehehe)!

I don't often recommend books to read but this one is worth it. "The Shack" by Wm. Paul Young is a wonderful book of tragedy, heartache, love and spiritual understanding. Unfortunately that's all I can say because you will need to read it for yourself. I'm sure your local library will have a copy.
I own my copy and loaned it the Patty, one of my wacky friends and she couldn't put it done either.

;-}

Don't count the days, make the days count!
