A Finish & A Continuance

Well at least it's completed but not yet quilted. I'll get to that one of these days!!

When searching through my stash for the elephant fabrics, I ran across another unfinished project.....my Armed Forces blocks. I decided to go with some filler block made from my red/white/blue scraps. I need to make one more block before putting all of it together. Good heavens, where to find time to do that??? ;-/

Made A Move

The sun has been out for a couple of days so I'm finally getting some energy back. The elephant has been bugging me for some time so I forced myself into the sewing room and got to work.
I pulled out nearly the whole stash digging out fabrics to audition and use. Boy was that fun but the mess isn't pretty.....LOL

Here's what I have so far but I know that I'll need to tweak some parts and add others and I'll need to add a tree or two. Let's hope the sun holds out for a few more days!!

Still Deciding

As I'm pressing some fat quarters.....
I've still not found just the right background for my elephant but looking is part of the fun, don't you think?!

Here's one of my new favorite fabrics. It's a Moda "Watercolor." I have no clue what I'll do with it.
Then there's this one. It's a Stonehenge - Prehistoric. Love it!!
What's on your ironing surface?

Elephant Fascination

Can you see the sections I've outlined that will make up my version of the elephant?

Here it is from the back. This is the side I'll be tracing from.

Here I have placed the head, trunk and ears on top of my paper pattern to see if I like what's going on.

Sorry, I got so excited that I forgot to take more photos of the process. He's all done but now is the really hard part.
Auditioning background fabrics!!!
Auditioning background fabrics!!!
Did mention, auditioning background fabrics!!!
I'll be doing this for quite some time.....sigh.
I'll also need to do a bit more work on the elephant...more highlighting or something.
Stay tuned.

My Fascination With Elephants

I found this particular photo on Google. It represents a collage of images I have in my head of the magnificent mammal, the elephant.
I remember the first time I saw one up close. It was at the Austin Zoo, oh several, well ages ago. Ok, 19......59ish. Anyway, the next time was years later at a circus.
I know you all remember that I don't like things that fly, flutter, crawl, creep, slither, buzz, bigger than or smaller than me....not to worry. The elephant will never get anywhere near me except on fabric!!!! Whew.
I've had an idea for a mini quilt using the fabrics below:
Notice the dark tapestry like fabric down one side of all the others? Well, that piece has been in my stash for a very long time, as in 10 years....sigh. I'm using it in this project, finally. Mr. Cowboy thinks I'm nuts because it's so different from all the other chosen fabrics.
Just you wait and see how I use it.
Stay tuned.

;-}

Don't count the days, make the days count!
