Ah, December!

Sorry, no photos in this post. I'm here to talk about the last month of the year in Texas. It's been about 15 or so years since I've purchased a winter coat. In fact, I can't find and don't remember the color of the last one. I'm saying this because it has gotten cold around the farm all of a sudden.
I'm sure you've all heard, just wait a few minutes for the weather to change here in Texas!!! Well, it did, from 75 degrees the other day to 38 degrees with sleet all day today. Plus the wind is about 5 mph. I know that 5mph doesn't sound very much except when you add the cold and dampness. 

Burrrrrrrrr!  I'm a summer kind of girl. I can cool off much faster than I warm up.
Oh dear, I'll need to purchase coat and quick.  Mr. Cowboy went out to feed the critters all bundled up in his overalls, a skull cap under his cowboy hat, gloves, boots......the works.
I'm already praying for spring.....LOL.
What's your favorite season and why?

Strange But Useful Foot

The button foot!!

I've used the Pfaff foot many times & even read the Manuel on how to....laugh out loud! That particular foot allows you to place the button the the carriage so the machine makes the decision of measurement. Cool, right? I think so. I have yet to use the Janome foot & with hay season & my feelings of not wanting to sew these days.....sigh!

Next Foot & A Winner

These two, as you can see are from my two favorite machines. I don't use the Pfaff one very often now because I'm on the Janome most of the time when sewing fever strikes me. I use the darning foot or embroidery foot to free motion quilt some of my mini quilts. I'm just learning to stitch around the raw edges with it. It's frightening because I really have to pay attention to what I doing....LOL.
Remember, if you leave a comment, you are in the hat for a FQ. The color will be your choice.
Mr. Cowboy popped in from the hay fields for a quick tuna sandwich so I had him to draw from the "hat" for another FQ winner.

I am still not back in my sewing room but I did stumble upon this top that I hadn't taken a photo of.

Some of you may remember this quilt from a month or so ago. At that time I was really trying to get rid of some of my bag of scraps but, alas, that bag just seemed to grow. You know how that is, right?

This top measures 67" by 83"

The piano Key border took as long to assemble as the Fractured Diamond part but I'm happy the way it turned out.

Mr. Cowboy thought I was being silly about not getting to sew until I mentioned what if he was kept from all his farm stuff....hehehe!

So here's the next foot that's another favorite.

It's my Open-toed foot that I've used in many of the mini quilts that I stitch around the raw edges. You can see why it's named Open-toe. I shift my needle all the over to the right & decrease the stitch length to achieve the close stitching.

Mug Rug Thursday

Happy New Year everyone!
I hope we all didn't gain too much weight over the holidays. I really tried to cut back but haven't ventured toward my bathroom scales yet.......sigh.

It's good to get back to Mug Rug Thursday, as well. I won't be able to do the rug give away each week, I'm sad to say but will at least have them every two weeks.
Life has seemed to speed up and my sewing time has nearly stopped. I don't know how that happened but for now, that's the way the "cookie crumbles!"
Is anyone else having this same situation??
