Clevis!!!!!
See this thingy. Mr. Cowboy and I were out driving around the other day, just having a great time when all of a sudden he slams on the breaks. We came to screeching halt in the middle of our county road. He throws the truck in reverse, opens his door, leans down to pick up this thingy. I thought he was crazy for stopping in the middle of the road. He say's excitedly, "Do you know what this is?"
I'm still glaring at him, heart pounding terror that someone would come barreling over the hill to plow into us. "No," I say and "Can we please get moving!"
As he started driving again, he explains what the thingy is, a clevis, he says is used as a type of buckle or shackle to link things together. He goes on to tell me the possibilities of how he's going to use the thingy.
Ladies, guys, has anyone else experienced this behavior with your significant other???? He drives me crazy sometimes.
Onto sewing life.....
I finely decided to sit at my machine to stitch out an embroidery design. For several minutes I tried to bring up the thread from my bobbin without success. I changed needles, I cleaned the bobbin case, I changed bobbin thread a couple of times before remembering.......
that I needed to thread the needle to bring up the bobbin thread......sigh. Has it really been that long since I've sewn something? Obviously, yep.I hope that no one else is having mental lapses like me.

LOL.. I don't know who is funnier - you or Mr. Cowboy.
I think we all do things like that (thread) at times.
LOL. I too have a hubby that behave as crazy as I do when he's in the hardware store or machine store of some kind. I am much cooler as I keep my crazy for fabric shop only! lol Mental lapses happen when we are too excited to sew again. Once, I brought all my things to my friend's house so we could sew together. I couldn't get the machine going and couldn't figure why. It took us, yes us, awhile to realize that I had plug the machine but not the foot pedal. Yes, it's okay, you can laugh at me. Excitement does funny things to our brain I think. Enjoy the sewing now that the machine is all cleaned. ;^)
You bring both "those things" home to me. In my case I'd be doing both those things and my hubby would say "get rid of it". I used to get attached to things and know just what I'd use them for, but now I'm at the age where I want less stuff. Not only because I have less room since we downsized, but just yesterday mentioned to a friend that I could leave all my stuff behind as long as I can take my sewing machines and fabric. Enjoyed your post. Happy Sunday.
My husband would probably have the same complaint about me making him stop to grab something off the street.
Ha...I chuckled over the bobbin story. I've have too many memory lapses to count them.
LOL Funny story. My husband is the same when it comes to hardware.
I went into my sewing room early the other morning hoping to finish putting some blocks together. I "sewed" 5 blocks before I remembered that I needed to put in a new bobbin because I had run out of thread the night before. I think we all have "Memory" lapses every once in a while. Have a great weekend!
My kids are fond of referring to my lapses in mentality as either 'mental pauses' or 'brain farts'. Trouble is, they're happening more and more! Can't count the number of times I've sewn along and not noticed that there's no thread in the bobbin.
Well, I've seen them, but I certainly couldn't have named it! It probably costs what? $2 at the hardware store? I guess if I needed one, I'd get pretty excited about finding one in the road. Maybe think of it as a ... spool of thread you found on the ground, never opened. =) I laughed at your bobbin troubles. Yes, my memory sometimes shorts out like that, too!
