In a recent POST, I talked about a new applique project that I'm thinking about from a photo I took.
I don't have a plan when I start these kinds of things. I just know that I love what I see and go from there.
First, I made a reverse copy of the photo... this is for tracing onto the steam-a-seam (my favorite adhesive and no, I'm "not" doing needle turn applique.... LOL). Next, I started pulling fabrics that appealed to me and fabrics that seemed to match the colors in the photo (all from my stash that seems to grow instead of decrease). Black and dark brown are not pictured with the fabrics but I will add those later for shading. I don't know if you can see the background fabric I chose between the two photos at the top but it's a marble grayish batik that is perfect...... love it!!!
That's what I've done so far. The next step will be taking apart the areas I want to work on such as tree trunks, branches and brush.
Stay tuned.
