A Special April Deer Camp Retreat
Imagine....3 1/2 days cloistered away at my friend Molly's deer camp...... That's what happened this past weekend and this pic is a portion of things I accomplished. The blocks were from last year's Wacky challenge. Obviously, I requested blocks that depict Texas. The quilt is just the right size for a twin bed, so for now, it's my retreat quilt. We had been planning for this particular retreat for a month which included a special steak dinner. We always have plenty of food but this time we out did ourselves. To see a bit of the dinner fun, visit the WP blog.

Fabric Swap
HELP! Hey all you wonderful bloggers out there in bloggerland, a new friend and I need some suggestions on how to set up a fabric swap. Neither one of us has done this before but we are excited to try it out. So help with your suggestions and if you'd like to participate let us know in the comments you leave. It may take a little while to work things out but, I think it will be fun.
Oh, yea. The pic of fabrics was just to catch your attention. It does, in no way, reflect the types, colors or blands that may be swapped.

It's Earth Day, Charlie Brown
I remember that vividly from years ago and as a retired teacher i salute "Earth Day." It's a day that children, through some slight pressure from the powers that be, begin to appreciate the world around them. Most of this involves cleaning up parks by picking up someone's careless disregard for the nature around them, raking leaves, and planting flowers and tress. Which brings me to the picture I chose for "Earth Day." It's a picture of a conifer tree (pine). I thought of the poem by Joyce Kilmer .... Trees ..... and just wanted to share it with you on this special day.
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose ungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that my in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom sonw has lain'
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only GOD can make a tree.

Seeing Is Not Believing
While doing more house cleaning, I ran across this pic. You might think that in my younger days I was an astronaut. You know, one that travels about the universe in search of aliens. Although I was an avid watcher of "Lost in Space"......Danger, danger Will Robinson.......and "Star Trek"...Beam me up, Scotty!" Finally, I get to say that without someone looking at me and wondering what the heck I'm talking about or thinking....."peculiar girl". Anyway, put that out of your minds.......I was sent to Huntsville, Alabama along with several other teachers and "90" students to attend their wonderful space academy. We were there 7 long days but I learned alot about space, fuels, weightlessness, gels that absorb (you had to be there), technology and communication, etc., etc., etc. I couldn't wait to get back to TEXAS and share my newfound knowledge with the other students and teachers.

Another Cowboy Quilt
I've been floundering for some time now. Not really wanting to sew anything, going to my quilt studio, looking at fabric, touching fabric, even picking out some pieces and thinking about sew something but never really following through. But someone asked me to make a cowboy quilt for them and suddenly I felt like sewing. It was quite a challenge because it was so big (king size) in fact. But by this past Saturday at noon I was finally finished. This is the results.

I entered 2 small quilts (Things Cowboy and Star of Hope) and was very happy to even be considered.

Kerrville Texas
While going through one of my storage boxes I came across this pic which immediately made me smile. Pictures from left to right: Uncle Mc (L.C.), Auntie, Grandma, Granddad and my mom is squatting. I believe this was taken in front of the "Enchanted Rock" near Kerrville where my grandparents and mom lived at the time. Now I know why people say I look like my mom.
