It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...
Oh Boy!
Oh Boy!

Thank you Carol for all that hard work!!
Thank you Carol for all that hard work!!
Before I get into my project, this is also my birthday. Carol was so kind in allowing me to post on my birthday. Thank you Carol!!
Happy Birthday to me.
I'm proud to say I'm 58 years old today!!!!
Special note:
(If you're looking for Mug Rug Thursday, you're in the right place and the correct day except I've postponed it until tomorrow because of the HOP. So please come back tomorrow for that!!)
Make sure to "hop" over to the following fantastic bloggers to see what they've made for this
Ho Ho Ho Hop!!
Ravelly 1 = You are here!!
Now, to the HOP!!
I made a Santa wall hanging.
Here's the process from beginning to end.
These are a few of the fabrics I considered for the project.
Using a Pigma Pen (permanent ink) I drew the makings for the face. I know it looks a bit strange but the beard and mustache will do the rest.
I found a great off white with grey markings in my stash for the facial hair.
I forgot to mention that I'm using Heat N Bond Lite as an adhesive. At this point Santa is resting on a non-stick pressing sheet which is made especially for this type of adhesive.
For a background I decided to go with 2 1/2 inch green squares which I had in my stash for an exchange years ago. As some of you may remember, I've been trying to use up said squares for quite some time but they keep multiplying on me.
Here I'm just looking at placement/centering.
Now I've stitched around Santa's parts and sewn the border on and will sandwich everything to machine quilt it.
For a hanging method, I saw this on another blog but can't remember which one. I did want to give credit to that someone who came up with this ingenious idea. Using any size square you desire, press in half.
Place each folded square raw edges toward the outer edges, pin then stitch on binding.
In this photo you can see how it looks. This type of sleeve is easy to use when hanging something small.
This Santa wall hanging measures 12 inches square.
It is my give away for this hop.......
Plus this wonderful Christmas FQ.
All that is needed to participate in my give away is to leave a comment on this post
to have a chance.

Happy Belated Birthday to you. I'm behind in getting to view and respond to the wonderful creativity of the participants. I love your Santa - wish I had the pattern. I have absolutely no artistic ability to be able to even think about being able to draw a pattern, face, etc. Since I am later viewing the posts, I also saw your remarkable high heel, it is adorable, too. Oh, yeah, I loved the fabric in your beard. Also, keep trying to use the fabric squares. I know I just made a table runner using fabric from twin baby quilts. I didn't think I might have enough fabric for the table runner and now I can't tell that I made a dent in the fabric. Well, maybe one of them is gone, but... Thanks for participating and sharing your wonderful creativity. I became a follower. We are "neighbors" - I live in OK. I am shocked that you are blessing someone with Santa. Lucky person! Someone is beginning a wonderful tradition.
ReplyDeleteRhonda how could I have missed your birthday. Happy birthday my friend. Your Santa is awesome.
