Boy did I have a great time making this "round" mug rug. I love batiks and of course I collect them among other fabrics. I have this splotchy brownish cream fabric that's been sitting around in my stash just patiently waiting to shine. Since the whale design is roundish I decided to attempt a circular rug. Well for my first try it's pretty good but I forgot about bias binding difficulties and I had to do some major clipping, tucking, finger pricking and pressing. It lays fairly flat so I vowed that the next round mug rug would be lots better.
What do you think?? I know my one mistake was the bias but what else did I need to do?? Trash it, maybe!!
Stay tuned in to watch and read about my venture into "roundness!"

Oh my! I love it. Great job. Love the fabric and colors. Surely you'll not trash this lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love your whale and I love round~
ReplyDeleteRound is where it's at, baby! I have been fascinated with round lately too.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks fine. Did you use a bias cut binding? That is supposed to make binding curves easier.
ReplyDeleteBravo! Interesting and good job~ ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteLol, looks a bit fishy to me! Sorry, couldn't help myself....actually it looks great. Are you going to make a pod of whales to continue your "rounded" experience?
ReplyDeleteJust noticed I won the log cabin a little while back! Thanks so much! I haven't been blogging for a bit. I emailed you back.
ReplyDeleteThis round mug rug is great - love how you did it. You have a great eye for colors and shapes.
