Revision #1 of Branching Out

I was not thrilled with my first attempt with Ayden's portrait.  The eyes needed something, so I'm playing around with different shades of browns and beige. Luckily I seem to have a large collection......how that came about, I'm sure I don't know.  I, also, couldn't get a feel of what I was doing without a darker background, so I've placed Ayden on the black fabric for the time being.  The next challenge is her mouth but I'm going to sleep on it, maybe have a drink or to and I'd love some suggestions or comments from all my blogger friends.
BTW, her hair had a big flower on the side. I'll do that last.

  1. Ha....I'm sure that I can't give any suggestions as I am clueless about this kind of quilting. YOU, however, are excellent, so I'm sure the end result will be wonderful!

  2. I am with Pat. I know nothing about this. I can tell you that looking at Ayden on the sidebar with Sarah J. I can tell it is her.

Was her hair curly in the picture you are working from ? It looks very straight in that sidebar picture.

  3. OKay I went back to the previous post and looked. Seeing the picture I see what you have done.
I would suggest softening the edge against her cheek (straightening/smooothing the line a little) So it doesn't read as curly. Just a thought.
