Opposites Attract Challenge Blog Hop

Marian from Seamstobesew has done it again! What a wonderful challenging blog hop this is. Two, no more than three colors in a mini quilt.  But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Schedule for today......
You are here at Ravelly1
Make sure you visit all the bloggers to see all the great creations they've done!!

The fantastic give-aways....

First, there's the $25 gift certificate from The Fat Quarter Shop. You can really find some "wonderful-ness" there for sure!!!
Then, there's a stupendous give-away from DJ Inkers of their Kids All Year CD. How exciting is that!!!

Details on how to participate in today's give-aways......
Just leave a comment mentioning your two favorite colors!! That's all it takes to be considered. Marian will announce the winners each day on her blog. So please do check in with her.

Now, back to the main event.....
I took up the challenge, dug into my stash and came up with two unlikely fabrics.
I've had these two in my stash for many years, can't remember or imagine why I purchased them in the first place.

I chose a quick design block which consist of two and three inch strips.

Here, I've sewn and cut four blocks just to see if my idea is going to work. I like what I see, so, onward!!

Sixteen blocks later I can see a secondary design along with the spinning star design.

Next, I added a border.

With pins, a choice of thread, my trusty adhesive spray and a backing fabric, it's time to get this mini quilted.

I decided to stitch around the star design.

All done & bound!! A 17 inch square mini quilt I've named " Cosmic Spinner Dance."

Finally, I'd like to show you all a little quilt that I designed but never quilted years ago. It measures 24" square. Maybe I'll get it quilted soon but don't count on it. I'm already eyeing a new project.
Don't forget to leave a comment mentioning your two favorite colors. BTW, my two very favorite colors are shades of Green and  shades of Gray. I'm mad about them.

I can't tell you that I ever would have purchased those two fabrics, let alone put them together, but WOW WOW WOW!!!

I LOVE it, and I am frankly very amazed that they work sew well together. I love the wallhanging, I love the secondary design, and I love the older one.. if you decide you wanna give either of them away.. I'm putting my name in the hat first for them. :p

You've done it again Rhonda, Thank you so much for astounding me with your wonderful projects and participating in Opposites Attract.

Really don't have favorite colors. I just seem to like what I see at the moment. Love your little quilt from years ago. Will have to try the squash pickles!

My fav colours are purple and teal! Love your block! Always fascinated to see what blocks people do! I also use basting spray - so much nicer than pins!

Two favorite colors? Just two? Can I say "Rainbow" and "Sparkle"?
If not I will have to choose a blue that hints at teal, and a rich pure purple.

The fact is, I love every color on any given day.

Both your quilts are great. I am interested in how you cut 3" strips to get the star design. My favorite colors must be green and blue because they take up more shelf space than any other colors.

Love your Cosmic Spinner. What a fun way to use those fabrics, we aren't sure why we bought! LOL!! And I'd love to say I have no idea what you mean that your quilt won't likely get quilted any time soon. Other projects.... yep that's what our minds do to us! My favorite colors are lime green and purple.

I like blue and green. Of course, neither of them is really just "one" color, there are tons of lovely variations! I'm so impressed with what you did with your stash fabrics.

I really like the secondary pattern that is showing up with more blocks. I LOVE your little mini. You need to get it finished.

Love your color choice and the project. I guess I like red and blue although I really don't have a favorite color. I think that is because I like scrap quilts so much. Nancy A: rangerer@sbcglobal.net

Wow, Rhonda! I'm amazed at how well those unlikely fabrics work together! I think "Cosmic Spinner Dance" is a perfect name for it. I also really like your older project. It's too bad that it will be a while before you quilt it. I hear you though, I'm already working on new stuff too! I'm not entering the giveaway today but my favorite colors are teal and chartreuse. :)
