What's Wrong With This Picture?

I was going to use this block in a quilt when someone noticed at problem.
Since I have dyslexia, it didn't pop out at me. Should I still use the block since it already pressed down
 or is it a failure??
Help!

Humm It's like looking at the back side of a flag blowing in the wind.

Why wouldn't you use it. Maybe I have dyslexia too or maybe I'm not seeing what you see. After all I don't believe in quilt police or right or wrong in quilting as long as you are happy with it. I think it's charming.

I was going to say that the wind is blowing from the other direction. Now, unless the star is supposed to be on the bottom, I don't think it is wrong this way.

If you were going to hang the flag from the porch, you would hang the field of stars on the left...so it looks just fine and I'd use it.

Are we going to get to see this project!

I think it's lovely...use it and let it add a story to your quilt!

If you look at the flag on a military uniform (my son was in the army) that is the way the flag patch is sewn. The flag is álways in the front and the wind blows it back so your flag is correct. I

I do believe I would use it.

If the quilt is for you don't use it because you will always wish you had fixed it every time you look at it. but I love the block and I would use it on the back of the quilt and tell everyone it was suppose to blow the opposite way on the back!

What's wrong with this block? I can find nothing wrong. It is a very nice block I think.

It looks good to me but then again I am not nit picky. And you know some people are way to critical of others work. Don't even listen to others bringing your work down. It looks sorta prim in design and anything kinda goes in prim décor if you ask me.

I did that on a primitive quilt "Sweet Land of Liberty" by Cheri (Saffiote) Payne and so some faced left and some faced right. I probably all depends on if it bugs you or not. :)

I must be dyslexic too.
What are you seeing wrong with the block? Everything is where it is supposed to be, the colors are correct. I agree with the wind thing, so if you are saying it is backwards, no, it is the wind. If it is paper pieced, I feel your pain, all my blocks run to the left instead of to the right and I have yet to figure out why, except to say I am left brained??? If you love it use it, if it bugs you, don't. Hugs and let us know.

Hi! How about if you rotate the block, so the flag is hanging down, the branch would be along the top of the block? Or over appliqué some tulle, etc to make it look like it is I. A window
Or put something else in the block to give the flag some perspective, then wouldn't look off, to your eye anyway.....
Good luck! Take care, Leslie

Rhonda, I don't see what is wrong with it. I say use it.

Rhonda, your block is beautiful just the way it is. I don't see anything wrong with it so if you are happy with it that really is all that counts. I would definitely use it.

I would just pretend I was standing on the other side of the flag pole and use the block. The wind blows both ways. =) Technically, this is not a Union Flag, so it really is okay to display it any way you want. If it does bother you, then go with that excellent suggestion to turn the block so the flag is hanging down and the star field is then correctly hung. =)

If you think it's blowing the wrong way, nope! It depends on which way you are looking at the flag. The nearest fire station to me looks similar to this. The wind comes out of the south and blows it north. The stars are on the left. I'm so used to seeing it that I don't even notice. I found a pic of one at: http://www.ecouterre.com/irony-alert-made-in-u-s-a-goods-gaining-traction-in-china/us-flag-1/ It's not the best site for other things and it does have the pix of the flag blowing both ways in the pix. I think whoever told you is anal (not that I'm not). I think you should absolutely use it even though that's not the image most of us have immediately. It will add interest. Great block!
