By leaving your email within your comment, I can find you. I realize that this is sometimes a scary thing to do with scams and all but if you disguise the email as say.....

Teapot #10

I am posting Teapot #10 a day early.
It is one of my favorites because of the green fabrics I used to make it.
This is not a good photo but you can get an idea of its shape. A link to the pattern is on my Sidebar, on my BOW page found at the top of my blog and just in case things go wrong.....
a link HERE!
One can't be too sure.
Enjoy!
Only two more teapots to go.

At Last

Pop over the Judy's to see what other are up to on this Design Wall Monday.

I finally finished the last barn. I totally loved this whole process from.....in my head, to drafting/sketching, to tracing, to choosing fabrics, to the actual blocks.
This may be my favorite barn.
Which is your favorite and why? I'd love to know what you're thinking.

This barn design is free to copy.

A is for Aardvark - BOW - "Q"

Okay, so this one was a stretch .......LOL.... I thought about a quail but this was more fun!!

And the winner for the Letter "C" is

Gill

Congratulations! Leave a comment and we'll get together via email.

"Eek Insect!"
................ is the next mug rug to give away. As most of you know,
I live in the country (woods) and I love it but living here does have some scary drawbacks like...... snakes, bugs, ants, wild hogs, aggressive squirrels, hungry garden rabbits,
diving hummingbirds, crazed buzzards, zipper spiders, lizards...........I could go on and no but you get the picture. Anyway, this is my way of dealing with my outside world
by making them from fabric.
Just leave a comment and you're in the hat for this little critter.

Remember, each Thursday I'm doing a mug rug give away. It doesn't matter how many times you've won a rug, you are welcome to participate.
International viewer are welcome.

Barn #4 Plus Tutorial

I decided to show a little of the process I use when making these blocks.
First, sketch out the design, which may have just the basics. This one is very basic. I tend to add to it later only in fabric form.
(This is a free design that I'm sharing with everyone)

After tracing out the design parts onto my favorite adhesive....say it with me...Steam-a-Seam.....you all know me so well....I then choose fabrics from my stash that best represents what I'm seeing in my head, which is a scary thought, indeed!!
After cutting the pieces out, I press the barn pieces together when at all possible. A tentative  background is chosen and auditioned.
I am not liking this one at all. Hummmmm, back to the stash.

This is more appealing but not quite it, yet.

I like to play around with the slanted options which, in this case, looks like fields in the background.

The blue clouds fabric I'm using is the back side. It's a little more subtle than the right side.

I've turn one corner over so that you can see the difference. I often use the back side of fabrics. A quilter spoke about it years ago. I think it was Mary Ellen Hopkins who did a lecture about the wrong side of fabric. Click on the photo to make it larger.

At this point, I have not pressed anything to the background. I'm looking at it from several angles. I also take a photo of it to see if it needs any changes. You'd be surprised how helpful that little tip is to us quilters.

This is the final version and I've pressed it down. I like it a lot.
I am trying not to buy much fabric this year. Of course there are times that my stash doesn't have the correct green, blue, tone on tone, red, black..... oh, sorry. You know how that goes.
I have one more block to make and then I'm calling it quits. After that, I'll get into how I want to place each barn, what are my filler blocks going to be, will I add something to tie the blocks all together.......woooo, I head is spinning!!!
Four so far

Empty Cup

Just copy and paste the above image and resize to your needs.

One of my great blogging friends asked for my design to this mug rug. Several thought it was very funny. I decided to share it with everyone.
I redrew the hair to fit my style so I'm sure you can do the same. I also did a bit of hand embroidery for the face and hands but fabric would work just as well.
Enjoy!!

Dedicated

Greetings Everyone!  It's another wonderful Design Wall Monday and I've been very busy with a couple of projects. Please take the time to visit Judy's blog to see what other DWM participants are up to.

"What, I'm Cup Is Empty?"
This is my latest mug rug to be given away in the near future.
This is the way I look some mornings when there's no coffee....LOL

Next,
this barn block is dedicated to my blogging friend, Gari.
Her comment to me the other day was, "Where's the round barn?" She grew up with round barns and have great memories of them.
Thank you Gari for challenging me and taking me out of my small box and comfort zone.

I decided that I had to make a roundish barn. The background needed to be special. I chose 3 fabrics; light gray (at the top), a very light green (middle) which I sewed in at an angle so that when I place the barn on top it will lend an amount of depth to the overall block and a speckled white-ish brownish gray....did everyone get that description......LOL

I saw a barn on the Internet that had a rocky bottom so I was very interested in that look.
I found the perfect fabric at the bottom of one of my stash piles (love it!!!!)
As it went together, I was happy with each fabric choice. BTW, all fabrics came from my stash and "no" the pile has not diminished on bit.......sigh.

I was fairly happy but the sky needed something so I added birds. Now I'm a happy camper!!
What do you think??
Remember, you are free to copy my barn designs. You may also enlarge or shrink them to suit your needs.

Barns

Barn #1 is ready to be stitched (raw edge stitching)
I added some wild grass to the mix to lend more depth and a fence.

Barn #2 is a work in progress. It needs something I think (LOL) but I'm not sure what.
As usual, I'm using scraps and my favorite adhesive, Steam-a-Seam.

I am offering my designs to anyone that wishes to try out my methods or whatever way you find that works.
I often number my designs somewhat just to keep up with all the pieces but it is not necessary.
Bakits and landscape type fabrics work well with these types of blocks. So enjoy!!

This is Whoop day at Fabric Addict so go see what others are up to.

 It seems that mug rugs are my passion this year. I love making them and giving them away. It's amazing how many ideas are out there on the Internet if you're interested in having fun making these wonderful little pieces of happiness!! There are tutorials, free patterns and other bloggers who have some of the best tips to help you out. Also, Pinterest is a great place to look for ideas but I'm warning you right now, you could wind up spending "hours" on  that particular site..... :-}

DWM Plus Hop Winners

Make sure you pop over to Judy's to see more Design Wall Mondays.
These are the mug rugs that I've been working on for the past few days. As I mentioned in a previous post, I really needed to practice making bias binding for circular rugs. I was pleasantly surprised this time because everything worked out.......Whew!  I am only using fabrics from my stash and no, the stash is not getting any smaller.....LOL...it's growing and running amok in all over my sewing room floor.
These rugs will appear in a future Thursday mug rug give aways so watch for them.

Update on the barn I'm working on. All the fabrics are from my stash which are fast becoming scraps....oh dear!!

I need to add a little something but at the moment, I have a mind block. What do you think??
Maybe a fence to all depth or a few trees or bushes.....hummmmmm

If you'd like a go at this, below is my design. You are welcome to it.
It's not in PDF (sorry about that). Just click on the photo, then right click, copy then you can paste it onto your clipboard....I think that's right.
You can then resize it to your liking.
I numbered the important parts, as I saw them but you can do whatever you're most comfortable with. The numbers help me keep up with where I am.

Now for the
big announcement
for the April Showers Mug Rug Hop.
My day was this past Friday. I had so much fun visiting each "hopper" and responding to bloggers.
April Showers is still going on so please, do not miss seeing what all the talented bloggers are making. LINK here!

One more thing before I announce the give away winners.............

HELP!!
I wasn't able to connect with Nellie last week to answer her question. My email would not allow me to go there. But to answer her question about which "font" I used for my Spring wording.....I opened my "Word" document maker, scanned all the fonts and chose one that suited my taste. This document will allow you to enlarge the wording once you type in the word up to 72 "whatevers" (sorry, I'm not good with sizing info). I hope that helps. If anyone knows Nellie, please pass this info to her. Thanks, in advance!!
