DWM-BOW

It's that time again....Design Wall Monday. Wow have I been busy attempting to finish that last barn block. I couldn't believe how hard it was but I decided to extend that row with another windmill. With all that blank space, it will be fun to see how I quilt that area.

While I was finishing the windmill block, my cousin came by and was showing off the fish he'd  caught from his tank (small pond).  Of course my mind immediately went into motion thinking about fish and fishing and how to make a quilt from that theme.
So I came up with 9 fish then started pulling fabrics from my stash. Boy, was that fun and very messy.
I decided to share with all my blogging friends. I know that some of you have hubbies/boyfriends/favorite guys who practically live on the lake so this would be a great lap quilt for them.

The great thing about this Block of the Week (BOW) is that you can choose fabrics that appeal to you and your significant other. It could be done in your guy's old shirts, even. I used bits and pieces from several fabrics in my stash.
I also used my favorite adhesive (Steam-a-Seam) but you
could do applique. There's no rush. You can save each design until you are ready. Each design will appear for the next 9 Mondays.
On the border, I'm planning a special rod & reel affect to tie it all together. So by mid August you could have a quilt top.

Here's my first block and don't worry that off white background fabric is not what this fish will finally rest upon. I just used whatever was available at the moment.
I hope that you will join me on this little BOW (Block of the Week) journey.
The design is free from me.  You can use all the parts or combine the fins or body. In other words, use as many or as few fabrics as you'd like.

This fish fits on an 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheet but you can enlarge or shrink to your liking. You should be able to right click on the design, copy then paste onto your clipboard.
Hope that made sense. If you have trouble just leave a comment and I'll attempt to help.

Here's a glimpse of what to expect minus the borders and rod/reel.......
