By leaving your email within your comment, I can find you. I realize that this is sometimes a scary thing to do with scams and all but if you disguise the email as say.....

Figuring Finish

This is the back view of the tote stitched to a batting and inside fabric. Notice the odd shape. This is a great way to make a tote that won't hurt when slung over the shoulder.

Here's the handle attached - back view.

And here's the front view.

Fronting & Figuring

I love designing things from quilts to jackets to totes. So when I recently entered a Bible study group I decided to make a tote to carry all my stuff. I began to write what I wanted on the tote then began pulling scraps and digging for threads.
I figured out what the front should look like and got out my trusty Steam-a-Seam.  Did I mention that I love that stuff!
Here's what I have so far.
The center piece was made separately then stitched on after I sewed to radiating strips on.
This front panel measures 12 1/2 inches.  I haven't "figured" out what I want to do for the back, sides and handle. That's for another day. But I will definitely have a pocket or two on the inside for pens, highlighters and such. For now, I'm off to do house work...... Sigh!

Scrappy Raw-edged Quilt

This is one of my older small quilts from a one day workshop. It was fun and quilt. The instructions were to pre-cut four sized squares: 25- 6 1/2 inch squares; 25- 4 1/2 inch squares; 25- 3 inch squares and 25- 2 inch squares.
Once at the workshop, the participants were to raw-edge (meaning all edged of the blocks are seen) stitch one of each squares to the other in whatever way desired. The "wacky" lady that I am, I chose to tilt each of the inner blocks.
After stitching each row together, we were to choose a border. I was able to get everything stitched that day and later had it quilted. I made a raw-edged label coming up with the "Caddiwhompus" for my off kilter quilt.

A Winner & Tutorial

Sorry it's taken me so long to announce the winner from my 1000th-ish post. Life got in the way. So the winner is

Jenny! Congratulations to you. Just leave a comment then I'll email you for the particulars.

Now, for the tutorial.
If you have chosen a background that is close to the color of your focus fabric and all seems to blend together (this photo is not a very good representation but will work out) not to worry. There's an easy way to fix it without scrapping the block.

Choose a light shade of gray. Using your original design trace, what I call, "outline" or "shadow" shapes on adhesive for varied areas of your block.
Press adhesive onto gray fabric and apply to areas on your block.

It is not necessary to outline or shadow all around the block. Your eyes will fill in the rest.

I hope this helps will all the projects where needed.

Diamond String Body

I've pieced another string together, again using the elongated block (7 1/2 by 10 1/2). The two focal points being dark and light diamonds. Once I'd sewn all the blocks together, I thought maybe I should have done something near the center light diamonds....oh well. That will have to wait for the next string. I'll add a border or two in the near future. So far the measurements are 42 1/2 by 62 1/2-ish.

Diamond String With Two Focus Points

This is the second string quilt in a month. The design was in my head so I had to stitch it out. You know how that is, right?
I'm using muslin. The blocks measure 7 1/2 by 10 1/2. I starched the daylights out of the muslin so that I shouldn't lose much from shrinking or something else that could go wrong....LOL

Just making sure that I'm on the right track. I really don't want to rip anything out.

Here are four test blocks. I'm loving what I see, so onward!

Sorry about this photo, it's really fuzzy, don't know how that happened. It couldn't be something that I did, could it....ahummmmm!!
I'm going to make 12 more blocks before I sew all together. I really love the light and dark diamonds.

Going Buggy Block #9

WOW, this is it! The final block and here's the LINK. You have figured it out by now ..... this last LINK is the spider.
Thank those of you who decided to do this little BOW with me. I'd love to hear what you thought of it, how I can improve on the next instructions, etc. Your critiques are very important to me.

Leafing Through The Year - BOM - Block #9 & Give-away

Block #9
Link here just in case I forgot to post it on my Sidebar!
Don't forget to scan down and read about the give-away in the previous post.
Finally, here's my latest finish.
It's an elongated string quilt. I started with a foundation muslin of 9 by 12 inches, which, after sewing everything in place, trimmed down to 8 /12 by 11 1/2 inches.

Tea Time Teapots - BOM - Block#2

The next block is a cute little teapot that reminds me of the winters with my grandma.
Enjoy this one.

Remember there's a LINK or two on this post and one on my Sidebar.
And I love it when you leave a comment.
It's time for another Give Away. Here's how it works. If you have my Tea Time button on your blog's sidebar and mention that in your comment, it's one chance. If you happen to be a "FOLLOWER" and mention that in the same comment, as well, that two chances.
Remember, this is an honor system give away, so please play fair!!
What's up for grabs, you ask?????

Well, let's see......

This soft back book is about 45 pages of wonderful and quick projects such as making quick pillows, bags, and table toppers.
Also, included in this give-away are twelve 12 inch squares of some of my favorite fabrics (color green, BTW). Oh, they are so tempting. Take a look...
Just imagine what you could do with those babies!!!

OMG! I just noticed that this is slightly over my 1000th post. Can you believe it because I sure can't!!!!!
How in the world did I do it....LOL

Good luck, in advance, to those who are participating!!

;-}

Don't count the days, make the days count!
