Diagonal String

As usual, we quilters seem to have an abundance of strips of fabric lying around. There are always wonderful designs out there to use them up. I chose to use mine in a nine by twelve diagonal string project.

 One block
In the above 4 blocks, you can begin to see what an interesting design that is developing.
And here you can begin to see the lattice effect.
I think I'll make about 24 to 30 blocks which will put a dent in all those strips hopefully!

Going Buggy Block #8 & Ayden's Quilts Wrap-up

We are almost done. Just two more blocks and your quilt can be put together or whatever your plans are for the blocks. Here's the LINK for the next block.  These types are projects are so much fun and can be done while riding in a car or sitting in your easy chair. Remember to LINK up and enjoy the process.

I finished the borders for Ayden's two quilts and even managed to hand embroider the strings on the balloons then straight stitched over it on the machine using same colored thread.
Measurement for this quilt 42 1/2 by 60 1/2 inches

Measurement for this quilt 39 by 42 inches

ABC Quilt

I'm on a roll for the moment.......LOL
So I decided to make another little quilt for my little princess, Ayden. I machine embroidered the alphabet using several colors of threads onto black Moda fabric squares.....BTW, Moda fabric is fantastic!!!!!
I trimmed squares with a twist, cattiwompus!
I added a floral fabric to the mix and sewed the alphabets with the ABC song in mind.
Well, allow me to just show you, why don't I.

I love the way this looks because it saved me from have to figure out how to keep everything in line....hehehehehehehehe
I'm planning on adding that same floral fabric as a 3 inch border to complete the look.

A is for Rabbit

Not really but I'll explain.
Ayden, (that's her with mud all over her body)

GoGo's little princess will turn 4 in a couple of months so I've decided to get a head start on her presents from me (GoGo).
She loves pink, loves pink. Loves the color pink.

So I've been digging through my stash for pink and I ran across several pieces, thank goodness. I took a page from Beth's project "Dump and Sew" and just grabbed up whatever pink color I had and sewed it to the next pink color for the background of Ayden's quilt. I must say, it turned out great!  Then I took a page from Paula's award winning project "All She Wants To Do Is Dance" (BTW, make sure you pop over and scan down to see the quilt. It's precious) and decided to add a rabbit to the mix, dragging the letter "A" around.
I'll need to stitch in the ties to the balloons to the leg of the "A" and add the PINK roses border you see in the photo. I'm shooting for a 36 to 40 inch square quilt. Perfect for rolling around on the floor on....LOL

Another Finish

Sorry about the fuzzyedges of the photo.
I've just finished sewing these two borders on this quilt which measures 64 inches square. I posted about this quilt a couple of months ago. I'd been looking at the design for years and finally found time to make it. There were loads of HST in the quilt but I love the results. All the fabrics came from my stash.

Decision Made & Done

Many thanks to all who commented and helped in my decision about the leaves. I added acorns to the corners, as well, and am happy that this one is finished and ready to be quilted. Sorry that the photo is side-ways. Don't know how that happened. It couldn't have been anything I did......  ;-}

Design Wall Monday & Little Cuties

Life has been slow going around my house and it's too hot to even think about doing much of nothing except reading and/or drinking iced tea......LOL
The only thing I have to show for my efforts is the following:
I added an 1 1/2 red border and then the 5 inch black border to the Texas seal top. Now I'm playing around with the idea of more applique in that border. I want to stay with the seeming appearance of circular movement thus the leaf placement. What are your thoughts????
Check out what others are up to over at Judy's!

I got a visit from Ayden and her cousin Elle the other day (plus their parents). Ayden wanted to take GoGo out for dinner...the little girls were so cute and so well behaved that I just had to purchase them something....to which Ayden said, "Happy Birthday GoGo!"

Tea Time Teapot Update & Design Wall Monday

Those of you who are participating in the Tea Time Teapot BOM have been asking about the size of the blocks. I purposefully didn't add that information to the PDF so that it would not influence you to just go with it. However, some have encouraged me to just give it up......LOL
I really didn't withhold the  info on purpose. I used 9 1/2 inch varied squares but if you wish to cut your blocks larger, please feel free to do so. Some like to have room to do elaborate quilting or add other embroidery to each block. The possibilities are endless.

Now for Design Wall Monday..... nothing on the "Wall" but I did spend my weekend binding 6, yes 6 king sized quilts.....whew!
Pop over to Judy's to see what everyone else it up to!

Tea Time Teapots - BOM - Block #1

It's finally here!!
Tea Time Teapots BOM
Make sure to grab the Tea Time button on my sidebar because it will  get you one point towards the give aways I've planned throughout this BOM period.
Now for the LINK.
I was so excited with this particular BOM that I made two sets. The teapot above is made from the red scraps I have an abundance of. So the teapots you'll see posted each month are going to have red fabric placement while the BOM design PDF will have both scrappy and red teapots as examples.
This project is a great way to use some of your favorite colors or scrappy works well, too.
Tea Time Teapot block (TTT for short) is also linked on my sidebar, I hope. Sometimes I forget to link there.
I would love your comments as they aid me in the process of writing directions and critiquing everything.
Now, for the first give-away......
This lovely Tea Towel is the first to be given away.  All you need is to be a "FOLLOWER" and state that in your comment and a participant in this Teapot BOM which means you'll need to have grabbed my Tea Time button from my SIDEBAR and placed it on your Sidebar and just mention that in the same comment. That way your name will be placed in the hat for the give away. This is an honor system give away so please play fair!!
Honor system means I probably won't be checking to see if you have grabbed the Tea time button or that you are a "FOLLOWER."  Although I do know most of my FOLLOWERS.
