At The End of My Threads!

I know that all of us quilters have had these problems......you're winding lots of bobbins from a spool of thread but can't finish off the spool....what do you do with that little extra?
You're sewing along on an embroidery project and your spool of thread gets dangerously low, so you change to a fresh spool....what do you do with that little extra?
Here's what I do.....I place the little....to nearly nothing spools into a zip-loc bag so that when I'm working on chain sewing and don't care about what color I'm using, these end of the spools come in very handy. With the economy as it is now, every little bit of savings is welcome.
What do you do with your low spools? Leave a comment stating what you do. I'll do a random number drawing and one lucky commenter will win the following........

This is obviously Floriani Embroidery thread   PF1085 - LOT:724316 - 1000M

Now that is a great idea! I tend to go ahead and wind them on bobbins and put them with my applique hand working bobbin holder.

I do the same as you except I use them to hand stitch my hexies together.

I put them aside for hand sewing. (but I don't have an embroidery machine so don't enter me)

Like Betsy, I use them to baste my hexes. Nobody will ever see if my thread don't match.

I'm not a contestants in this because I'm just announcing I'm about to learn how to quilt- and soon I'll be able to make meaningful comments. I'm so excited about it all - and this blog was one of my many inspirations! Okay, what are you doing with the bobins? I thought you'd just put new thread on them...no? I'll read everyone's comments.

I actually collect all of my little threads and sandwich them between some Dupioni silk and tulle fabric. Then I free motion quilt the piece, cut them into a flower shape, add some yarn and a bead to the center as well as a pin to the back and use it to embellish.

Ii put mine on bobbins, and then use them for the "don't care" kinda projects. It's easier to change the bobbin than thread the machine....
