My New Baby

Meet my new baby........Shark!  Yes you heard it here. Remember I posted awhile back about my Shark steam mop thingy...which by the way works wonders.......I didn't realize I was working so hard with my old mop until I tried the Shark......sorry, I'm beginning to sound like a commercial.  Anyway, while surfing the "Net," (Always a bad idea late at night...hehehehehe) I came across an ad about the Shark iron......after reading all the pros and cons, I decided to buy one and try it out.  Please note:  I've been the proud owner of  irons from brands such as Black & Decker, Proctor Silex, Sunbeam, Panasonic just to name a few.........I have never owned a Rowenta (Way too high a price.....I know what some of you are thinking....by the time I send all my money on these other irons, I could have purchased a great iron such as Rowenta)  I hear you shouting at me......LOL.......Usually, my irons last about a year and a half if I'm lucky.  My mom can't understand the short lifespan...which I always say, "Mom, I'm a quilter, my iron is on all the time."  She usually looks at me like I'm crazy and responds....."Well, turn it off between usage."  She just doesn't understand....."I'm a quilter, there is no down time unless it's bedtime, Mom!"   Sign...big time!      Please weigh in on this topic, I'd love to hear what you think.

My daughter just bought one and loves it. It is much heavier than the one she had before and she doesn't have to push on it.

Ah yes....I have had two Rowentas and I now just buy the cheaper ones. I find it much easier to deal with disposal of the cheaper ones as I use my iron all the time too.

My previous iron was a shark..Loved it! Unfortunately, I knocked it off the ironing board..(leaked after the fall)...so, I purchased a Rowenta. It doesn't get as hot as the Shark.. like the shark much better...

Never thought to get a Shark. I love my last two Sunbeams though. Hated my Rowenta. Hated it!!! Have a B&D now. Just arrived actually. Not sure if I like it but it'll do.

I have to join the chorus---I too had a Rowenta--actually 2 and a little travel iron. They all leaked and when I called the company they had absolutely terrible customer service. I will NEVER buy a Rowenta again! I too have a Shark (gee we have a lot in common) and I love it. I am not going to add water though---I don't want anything to happen to it, so I will just use a spray bottle and dampen! It is a great iron!

I have never had an iron that lasted very long...expensive or cheap, they all give me grief!

I agree with above comments about Rowenta. I've purchased several, including two steam generators (all different models). The maximum any of them has lasted is a little over a year. I too have purchased my last Rowenta as service is terrible. I actually sent one steam generator in for service to a company they recommended. Mine was only a few months old and my daughter knocked it off the ironing board. It leaked and they said they could fix it. What I got back was a steam generator that was a few years old. I had photos to document, but Rowenta didn't care. I too am done with Rowenta.

Rhonda after using for a while, let us know how it works. I'm game for something reasonably priced that works very well.

I just found your blog and love it! I am in the market for an iron so the timing of this topic for me is fantastic. I have owned a rowenta, black and decker etc..I think I will try the shark since so many people have great things to say about them.

Hope this one works, was the price comparable to your previous ones?
Hey, I use mine, but my honey loves to iron and has been eyeballing those Rowentas and that cool Alipso (?) iron, also. I just tell him those can be dropped, pushed, knocked off or jump off the ironing board just as easily as a $30 one. That usually holds him quiet for a while.
