So I was .........

So I was walking around my yard around 7PM this evening, looking at all the colorful flowers, the hummers (hummeringbirds), the little finches, morning doves, deer in the back 40, squirrels, bumblebees, wasps, etc., etc., etc............when what to my wondering eyes should appear but a...........COPPERHEAD........oh my gosh.......what to do........what to do.......what to do!!!  He just slithered out of nowhere to greet me in my own yard!

For those of you who know me........you know I dislike (hate) bugs, spiders, crickets, grasshoppers,......basicly anything had flies, flutters, slithers, creeps, crawls, glides, waddles, lopes, gallops, etc...........though I live on a non-working farm..............just picture it.  Now, I must admit, the science teacher in me was awestruck with it's coloring...the way it blends in with dead leaves and stuff......but I took a dim view of him placing himself in my path!

So Mr. Copperhead was just lounging in front of me and I have nothing, mind you, nothing that would allow me to defend myself..... but I was determined not to let the little vermin get away........so off to the shed to get a shovel, I ran...........it's only a very short distance away but when I came back to said snake......he had slithered away...............EEEEEEEeeeeKkkk!...........Well, that's not exactly what I said.............but you get the idea......So tomorrow, I'll be going snake hunting with my trusty double barrel shotgun loaded for bear, a shovel, a short ax, wasp spray, knee boots, goggles, gloves, thick denim jeans, a long sleeve shirt, my cell phone............hey, just in case Mr. Snake starts hunting me!

Stay tuned...........

Oh...I am SO afraid of snakes. PLEASE be careful, Rhonda. (Did you actually go and get your camera to take a picture of that snake or is that a picture you found on line? I'd not have taken a photo of it...that's for sure!!!)

Just seeing the picture made me jump and almost run!!!!! DO NOT take chances----please, please be careful. Where there is one, there is usually another!!!! That's why I don't have a lot of pretty flowers---too scared to work in the yard :-(

I think I would stay inside too but they can get in there as well. My husband was driving in Missouri one day and spotted one in the road...he got out of the car and shot that booger....so a gun is a good thing. I always found humor in that story for some reason...You be careful!!

Oh, my, that is really scary. Please be careful. Are there many in your area? Can't you call in an exterminator or something?!

Will we see a trophy picture?

I don't like spiders and snakes, oh sorry your post made me think of that song and I really don't like either. I think you should move, let the snake have the house.

I am feeling your feelings as I look at the picture. I had one in my garage that greeted me a few years back and I am lucky that I didn't drop from a heart attack right then and there. I hope you locate it and take care of it so you don't have to worry again.

We had our first snake (this year) in our yard on Saturday. Although it startled me, it was only a gopher snake. Guess they are out of hibernation for the summer.

You're much braver than I but I do understand that you don't want to meet him, by surprise, again.
