Reminder

If you are a "non-responder or OpenID-er" which to me means I have no way of responding to a comment that you've left, please leave a way for me to get in touch with you, especially if you're participating in a blog give-away or if you are asking for information or links.
By leaving your email within your comment, I can find you. I realize that this is sometimes a scary thing to do with scams and all but if you disguise the email as say.....
me at yahoo dot com
this is the perfect way to hide from the unwanted eye. So please help me out if you are one of the non-responders.
Thank you, in advance.....Ravelly Rhonda!!

Favorite Fabric Monday

This beauty is a very old fabric......I'm talking at least 10 years old. It's from Rose Garden by Jinny Beyer for RJR Fashion Fabrics. I originally bought 3 yrs but I'm down to about 1/2 yrs. It's been very useful......I use it for pond scum (I mean that in a good way), backgrounds, etc.

Mail Call

Today dawned bright and fair with the tiny hummers buzzing around my head as I poured more sugar water into their feeders. Next, I watered all the potted plants and my little tomato plants. When the mail-lady came, I didn't go out to the mailbox for a couple of hours but when I did.....Lookie what I got! Kathy, one of my blogger-friends, sent this beautiful mini quilt and I love it, love it, love it. Thank you so very much, Kathy!!!!!

Finally-May Retreat

I'm doing a Hula dance because I'm near on my way to RETREAT!
I couldn't get energized last night but early this morning, I packed up the Jeep, checking off items as I went along. Let's see what did I do with that kitchen sink? Can't wait to get to DC (DeerCamp) and get set up! I'll be out of pocket for a little while but will take plenty of pics.

Apron Winners

And the winners for the "2" apron choices are Dionne and Pat.
Sorry it took me all day to do the drawing but life, oil changes, gardening and forgetfulness got in the way. Congrats to you ladies and thanks for always participating in my "wacky" give-aways. "E" your address and I'll get you aprons to you sometime next week.....Remember, I'm going on retreat with my "wacky" friends, so mailing will have to wait a few days!!!!!!

Favorite Fabric Monday

Look at this piece. It's from Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum Collection III - by Judie Rothermel & the Rocky Mountain Guild Museum - Marcus Fabrics. As I've mentioned before, I don't often by blue fabrics, just got out of the habit, I guess, but I like this piece. I've got 1 yard and no plans......LOL
In a couple of day I'll be off to DeepCamp for a wonderful and well deserved retreat. All the "Wackies" will be there guaranteed to have loads of fun and laughter. Check out some of the wild things we get into on our WACKY blog.

A Mother's Day Surprise

The boys were unable to have dinner with me this year. They called to apologize and all, so I took the opportunity to visit with friends and family over the way while my mom did her thing. We made plans to have dinner together later. When I returned this afternoon, my front porch was adorned with flowers..........."The Boys" had dropped them off, those sneaky things.......the Chocolate Calla Lilly I'd never seen or heard of before & some kind of catcus. I'll have to investigate and get back to you on that catcus.....LOL Thank you guys & wives (who, I know, really picked all the beautiful flowers....hehehehehehe)!!!!

A special Happy Mother's Day to Angie. I sure Ayden would tell you herself....if she could talk alittle better!

Becoming A Better Blogger

I've been blogging now since March 2007 (I can't believe it's been that long). I absolutely love it and check my blog often.....hehehehehehe....... but I don't feel that I'm doing a good job with posting, adding pictures and especially videos. My content management on my page is not perfect, far from it. But I'm growing through all my wonderful blogging friends and I really appreciate all your great suggestions. Your comments are always welcome because through them, I've learned to "link", upload several pics and move them around and just lately, I can easily add a video......Yippie Skippy!
My blog is a mixture of family journal, quilting projects and funny situations, which, as I've surfed around blogger-world, many others are the same. So I know I'm on the right track but always looking to improve.
I'm striving to do better but this old gal is struggling. Anyway....for your viewing pleasure, I have a video of one of many of my Red Ant mounds.......trust me, they're everywhere.......I live at the edge of a field/pasture.......wonderful, fairly peaceful but critter, varmint, insect crazy. And below that is a pic of some sort of beautiful blossoms from a tree that I don't know the name of......Help me out on that one, please.

My Tiny Friend

I love watching my tiny little friend during the day. There are several others but they are hard to catch on video. Hummingbirds are very territorial and love to dive-bomb one another at the feeder.

Mini Booty Swap/Give-Away

Lookie what I got in the mail late last week. It's my mini-quilt from my secret pal Carol in Vermont! Wow.....didn't she do an excellent job!!! I did really have any specifics other than I'm from Texas. Thank you so much Carol. I love the bluebonnets and the tea towel. And a "pat on the back" to Toni, our hostess.

And let me remind all my Followers about the apron give-away. The deadline is May 13th, so sign-up by leaving a comment at THIS link to get your name in the hat.

Apron Fever/Favorite Fabric Monday

This colorful apron with the curved bottom edges and welt pocket is my latest production. Don't ask me why I'm on this apron kick because I don't really have an answer other than to say I love making them.

This wonderful apron comes from the Fiesta Apron Swap hosted by Val. SueAnn was my partner, unbeknown to me, she sent this beautiful apron with 2 coordinating tea towels......I love them!!!
This Goldish with berries is by Moda Fabrics by Deb Strain. I have 1/2 yard left and have used this piece in several quilts.
FYI - I found this link on How-to with over 100 ways to make things. It's a great site for crafters and sewing friends.

Tasty Veggies & Hot Cornbread

Sorry I don't have a picture to go along with the meal but honestly I didn't think they would all eat everything up............LOL
Here's the recipe:
  1. Roughly chop 1 medium to large onion
  2. Slice 2 squash of your choice
  3. Chop a fresh clove of garlic (optional but I love garlic)
  4. 1 cup of cooked purple hull or black-eyed peas
  5. 1/2 jalapeno pepper
  6. 1 cup of frozen or fresh sweet corn
  7. In a hot large skillet add 2 tablespoons of Olive oil and all of the above ingredients. Stir constantly for a few minutes to insure that nothing sticks.
  8. Pour over that 2 cans of Stewed Tomatoes or canned tomatoes. Let simmer for 25 to 40 minutes.
  9. While that simmering, cook a large pan of cornbread.
  10. Serve veggies and cornbread while steaming hot.

Next time, I'll snap a pic before everyone gets their hands on it......LOL

Give-Away/Great Read

Happy May everyone!!!!! It's time for the Followers Embroidery Give-Away.
Look what's up for grabs.....an apron with a cute cutlery pocket and very long ties. This apron is made from Aunt Grace "ties One On" from the collection of Judie Rothermel for Marcus Brothers Textiles, Inc. I trimmed the edges of the apron in black.
If you've been following my blog, you know that I'm really into aprons these days. It's a fever I've developed. There's a tutorial on our "Wacky" blog for the waist aprons. Anyway, remember the rules. You have to be a follower or become one to enter the drawing and you have to leave a comment on this post to be considered. The drawing will happen May 13th.
Hopefully by then, the rain will have let up enough for me to venture out to the neighbor's so that he can pull a name out of the hat..............(long story....hehehehehehe)!

I don't often recommend books to read but this one is worth it. "The Shack" by Wm. Paul Young is a wonderful book of tragedy, heartache, love and spiritual understanding. Unfortunately that's all I can say because you will need to read it for yourself. I'm sure your local library will have a copy.
I own my copy and loaned it the Patty, one of my wacky friends and she couldn't put it done either.

;-}

Don't count the days, make the days count!
