FFM/Ayden/Quilt Show

Alrighty then.......this is as close as I could get before the picture completely distorted. This is one of my favorites because of the design and the shade of blue. Sturbridge Village Blues by Judie Rothermel inspired by The Old Sturbridge Village Collection for Marcus Brothers Textiles, Inc. Good grief, the name and all is very long but the fabric is worth it, totally. Two yards of pure gold, people!
Ayden came for a visit yesterday, so I'm showing off her stay.
Whew! Out like a light.
I'm sucking on my gums, boy, does that feel good!
More sucking going on here, Gogo and you're blinding me with that flash thingy!

Azalea Quilt Show/Tyler, Texas was held this past weekend. Five of the "wackies" graced it with our presence.........LOL.......Hear's a glimspe of what we saw.

The quilting on most of the quilts was outstanding!

Jerri, get out of the way........hehehehehehehehe

Contest

Alrighty then......I know that one picture is sideways........of course I know that......I tried to turn it the right way........to no avail.

Anywhooooo, this is the Apron that I made using the Piece O' Cake instructions from Becky & Linda. They wanted the participants to use the floral design in our own interpretation. So as you can see, I made the apron with a floral pocket and the curly vine to spruce up the bottom. I didn't place but it was fun just trying.

Favorite Fabric Monday

Welcome back everyone! This week's fabric choice is "The Roaring 20's" by Bev Proulx for Chanteclaire Patt2014. I usually don't go for this type of fabric.....it's just not me but this one spoke to me. It can easily be cut to use in all kinds of blocks, adding flair to your design. I purchased 2 yards of it which is plenty to work with.

Trellis Roses

One of my Black/White challenges is put together. Just today, I finished this baby. As you can see, I went with #2. I had to make twelve more blocks because I didn't want a square quilt. I found the rose fabric when Jerri and I were in San Antonio the other month.
BTW this one measures 54" x 74" without borders. I don't know if I'll do borders. I kind of like it this way......opinions please.

"Fiesta"

My
"Hot Mama Fiesta" apron is finished but I can't tell you who the luck lady is just yet. This is only my second apron swap sponsored by Valerie, who is a great hostess.
If you know me, you know that reading instructions are not my cup of tea. So when I made the body of the apron with its pocket and tie, I was so pleased with myself. Only took me a day at our last retreat. Then, when I came home, I got out the instructions and realized that not only did I need to make an apron but said apron had a theme. Eeeek! "Fiesta" was the objective.....oh dear, wooooooo is me, etc., etc., etc.! What to do, what to do?????? Make another apron, start all over......NOPE! I found a design that I really liked for the guy and drew a gaiter. Using loads of Steam-a-seam and lots of stitching, again.......Volia! I love this apron.

Favorite Fabric Monday

No, don't try to refocus your computer screens. This FF (favorite fabric) was simply labeled Moda 1995. So I'm guessing it was bought way back then and it must have really been one of my favorites because I purchased 3 yards of it. Three yards is a standard for me which means I can't live without it. I've used the fabric in various small projects because...............I didn't want to use it up........hehehehehehehe.........I know, I know...........just let it go, cut into the fabric and make something...........give me the strength, people!

Surprise!

Lookie what I got from my great friend Dionne. She sent me "a little taste of the tropics," which included 2 great fat quarters, a key chain, a shell necklace and a sweet card. Thank you so much Dionne, I love everything!

I've Got A Winner

Alrighty then. I know it's not tomorrow yet, but it's raining here and cold, again. And it was girls night out at our favorite watering hole, so I took advantage of the situation and asked Kath to draw a name for me. I wasn't taking any chances with the neighbor.......hehehehehehehehehehehehehe (previous story, that) And the winner this month is.........PAT! Hooray Pat. E-mail me your address and I get this wonderful embroidery block to you.

Black and White Challenge Dilemma

I was working on my B/W challenge this past weekend as you can see. But when I got to the actual positioning of the blocks, I couldn't make up my mind. I like both but I can only do one.
HELP! I need your input so please feel free to leave comments.
Thanks, in advance.

Favorite Fabric Monday

Meet my next favorite fabric designed by Virginia Robertson for Fabri-Quilt Inc. I don't remember when or where I bought this fabric but it was awhile ago. Of course the picture doesn't even capture the true colors. I have about 1/2 yard of this left and I love to use it in leaf designs and grasses in my embroidery work.

OMG-All Things-Texas

A few retreats ago, I made this quilt for my good friend, Carol F. She had been watching me work on the blocks and asked me who I was making it for. My response was ........ nobody, it was just something that was in my head that needed to come out........LOL........
If you're wondering where you've seen this design, it's on my sidebar and it's my design......well most of it. Since the quilt is a queen to king size, I did use some block patterns from other designers. The quilt just seemed to grow & grow & grow.
Carol was very happy to walk away with the quilt top at the end of the retreat and I was very glad to finish it before leaving......it was a goal that I committed myself to.......when under pressure, I can actually perform.........LOL....I don't know who machined quilted it but didn't she do a fantastic job? All Carol has to do is bind it and put it on her bed. Hooray for Carol!

Favorite Fabric Monday~~March Give-Away

Believe it or not, these 3 pictures are of one fabric. It's from Nancy Crow for John Kaldor Fabricmaker.
I've had this piece (2 1/2yards) for some time and cut only pieces of it for small projects because I don't want to use it all up.
The colors range from gray to browns to corals to a very strange orange.
This is one of my "all time" favorite fabrics. If anyone know where I could get more........"E" me.

And now for my monthly Give-away. This little beauty measuring 6"X6" is a black-work on a tea dyed muslin. I've left plenty of room around the design to incorporate it into something else if you so desire. Remember, you must be a Followers of my Blog and you must leave a comment on this post stating that you want in on the give-away. As some of you may recall, I have had at least one interesting drama with the drawing process...................................... something about a neighbor, cows and cold weather. Anyway, check out the story, a laugh is on me. The drawing for this wonderful embroidered piece will be March 12th, which gives everyone a chance to tell a friend to get in on the action........Good luck!

;-}

Don't count the days, make the days count!
