Who would have guessed that a 10 degree ruler could produce such a striking quilt? I discovered the ruler and a book to go along with it (Quilts Without Corners by Cheryl Phillips) years ago. After gathering the fabrics that I thought would make the quilt pop, sewing carefully and pressing not ironing, I got a very pleasant surprise. But the center was lacking. I showed it to my, then students and they said it looked like the sun and needed a face. Wow! They were right and this is the results.
We named the quilt "Mr. Sunshine."
