My Nickel Quilt

Finally! The Wackies collected Nickel Square fabrics for 2 years. Last year I started making four patches and half square triangles after I chose "Idaho Beauty" from More Nickel Quilts by Pat Speth, published by Martingale & Company. Anyway, Jerri and I got busy putting blocks together at last year's (2006) Deer Season at Molly's. I made all my blocks and put them somewhere until I found them the other day and decided that very soon I was going to get busy and put the darn thing together. So this morning I arranged them on my design board, put on some of my favorite music and started sewing. Three hours later.........TaDa! Now don't panic you quilt bloggers out there in blogger land.......I don't have anyone to interrupt me.....remember....no kids, no hubby, no problem! Now all I have to do is get a border on it......maybe next year............get it......next year.......it's only a few days away!!!!!LOL

Tis

Tis the day before Christmas and all throughout my house you see All kinds of things going on like cooking for three..........the boys and one wife. LOL Just alittle Christmas humor. I won't have the traditional turkey and dressing...had that at Thanksgiving. I decided a few years ago to go with a good rump roast, turnip greens, candied yams, apple/walnut salad and hot rolls. For dessert........hot, right out of the over chocolate brownies topped with vanilla ice cream. He boys just love it. The year is almost over and I can't believe it. What have I accomplished this year, you might ask? Well let's see. 1. I made 7 quilt tops this year 2. I participated in 2 quilt shows 3. I lectured 3 quilt guild meetings 4. I completely reorganized my sewing studio and I love it By the way, did I mention that I'm goin' on a crusie in February with 7 of my "wacky" friends......so 5. I've got just about all the things I need for the trip but I'm sure that I'll think of something else before we go. The Wackies had a great Christmas party which I'm sure I mentioned in a previous blog. To see how much fun we had visit http://wackypac.blogspot.com/ Here's another wonderful site to visit. It's got some great sales goin' on: http://www.fabricfanatics.com Check it out and maybe walk away with some neat fabrics for your stashes. Well, I want to say before I turn out the light, Merry Christmas ya'll and have a great night!

Last Minute

This is a great last minute Christmas present for that special guy, grandparents, your curious pre-teen child or even for mom, herself. This is the "Captureview" binnoculars. The great thing about it is it has a built-in camera and can also take a few seconds of movie. Where can you purchase this, you might ask? WalMart, of course. And the cost is under $50 bucks. It's worth it bloggers. I've had mine since this past summer and have taken lots of pics and a few movies of my favorite little critter........Hummers!

More Applique`

I couldn't wait to share this block with everyone. It comse from "Shadow Applique`" by Hetty van Boven; published by That Patchwork Place. Anyway I was looking through the book yesterday and this block caught my eye. I love the woven look of the vines or whatever they are. Using my trusty Steam-a-Seam and lots of my wonderful stash, I was able to recreate this Daffodil pattern in about an hours time. Now all I have to do is stitch it all down using all those great attorted threads. I'll do that another day or week or month.

Cowboy Up!

I wanted to share this Christmas stocking with all my blogging friends. I was given this one years ago by a lady who wanted to give gifts but had little money to put into the gift giving. So she bought muslin yardage and used her talents of painting to create this wonderful cowboy for me. I have cherished it over the years. So you see, it doesn't take much to make someone very happy on Christmas.

Merry Christmas To All

With another successful year under our belts, the "Wackies" got together at Annie's for our annual Christmas party. We had a blast, of course. We decided not to exchange gifts and settled on exchanging 3 one half yards of fabric. Well, we couldn't just pass the yardage out, we played games such as the Left-Right game. Charlotte rewrote it to include each of our names. You had to be there but it was so much fun figuring out left from right.......LOL At the end of the evening we took our annual group picture. Merry Christmas everyone!

Gitty-up!

Silence....blessed silence sprinkled in with a few chirping birds. The sun rising over the horizon...rays piercing through my window shades........"Gitty-up there mule," someone yells from the road very near my home. Clippey clop, clippey clop, bark, bark, bark, whinny, whinny, whinny.......Okay! What's going on out there, I think as I pry my eyelids open, stumble out of bed and peer out my bedroom window. This is what I saw. Neat, ha!

Sunday Morning

The sky is overcast, it's drizzling, the leaves are shades of yellow, orange, brown and pale green. Yet this is a day that the Lord made and I am glad to be a part of Him and it. My life is rich because I know Him.
I have love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness faithfulness gentleness and I am striving for self-control.
Just wanted to share this with you. (Galatians 6:22-23)

;-}

Don't count the days, make the days count!
