Geese

This is yet another quilt top that I'm working hard to complete. I had lots of 5" squares that I sewed into six groups of 16......what to do next? I love flying geese the easy way.......for me, that is. Half square triangles, that's the answer. This is the results so far. I'm thinking another border and I'll be done.

Second Border

Wheeeeew! What a challenge. I knew I wanted to add log cabins around this little quilt so I made ninety-six 3 1/2" log cabins..... Yeeeaa! What was I thinking?(#(*$#&)~ Anyway, I got-her-done. Next, I had to figure out how many that would go on the sides and top/bottom. Shhhh....I had to trim off just a little of the yellowish border, but everything turned out alright. I don't know what I'll do next but wish me luck.

Clip It

This is the type of clip that use over my cutting area. I hang all my scissors and rotary cutter on them. I'm sure I will find other uses as well. It is so nice to know where all my stuff is and to have things in easy reach.

More Studio

I am always pressed for storage space so above my cutting mat is the bottom rack that holds my FQ's, printer and 5" squares. I found some alligator clips that have hooks at the other end that work well for hanging my rotary cutters. I placed those circle clamps in the cutter holes then hung them up. Another problem of space solved.

My Sewing Studio

The actual sewing and creative area equipped with machine and laptop. My cutting table is small but it works allowing me to cut from 3 angles. Note the canvas "shoe" storage used for stablizer(Thanks Molly). The metal racks lend for maxium storage place.
By folding and storing my "stash" on shelves......I can actually see what I need or want and get to it easily. LOL
My ironing area is directly behind the sewing machine. I like to move around and get up so that I don't become a sewing potato. LOL Oh and by the way, my studio is also my garage. The Jeep is always getting in the way. I'll have to work on that one.

Potato Soup

This is a wonderful recipe and fast. 5 pounds of potatoes, peeled and cubed Boil until tender in large pot of water. Drain and add 2 large cans of pet milk; 3 tablespoons of butter or whatever butter substitute you like; Salt/Pepper to taste; and 2 packages of Potato Toppers ( usually found in the produce section). Serve immediately or the next day or the next. It gets better with age. LOL
My good Wacky friend, Patty shared this recipe with me so I'm passing it on to you. Enjoy!

I'm so excited about the quilting cruise coming up next February that I'm in knots, all bent out of shape, beside myself.....you know....just can't wait. But I must. I have to conserve my strength, keep a clear head....breathe! LOL

Ok....I'm alright now. Thanks for allowing me to let off steam.

Cabin Rose

Log Cabin with fussy cut rose centers. Tried the barn raising but didn't like the look so sewn in as streak of lightening formation. Will audition fabrics for borders later on this month. Show finished quilt soon, I hope. LOL

Quilting/Sewing Quiz

The following short quiz consists of 4 questions and tells whether you are up for quilting today or too pooped to try. 1. How do you put a giraffe into a refrigerator? Really think about this one............ Know the answer? The correct answer is: Open the refrigerator, put in the firaffe and close the door. This question tests whether you tend to do simple things in an overly complicated way when working on a quilt block. LOL 2. How do you put an elephant into a refrigerator? I'll give you a moment. Got it? Wrong answer: Open the refrigerator, put int he elephant and close the door. Correct answer: Open the frig, take out the giraffe, put in the elephant and close the door. This tests your ability to think through the repercussions of actions you have taken when making a quilt. 3. The Loin King is hosting an Animal Conference. All the animals attend except one. Which animal doesn't attend? I know you know this one. Correct answer: The elephant. He's still in the refrigerator. This tests your memory. OK, even if you didn't answer the first 3 correctly, you still have one more chance to show your abilities. 4. THere is a river you must cross. But it is inhibited by crocodiles. How do you manage it? Come on now, think about this one. I'll give you a few more seconds............................. Correct Answer: You swim across. All the crocodiles are attending the Animal Conference. This tests whether you learn quickly from your quilting mistakes. LOL

Scrap Bag

We Wackies decided to challenge ourselves once again. This time the rule was to stuff a 2 gallon ziploc bag full of scraps. They could be strips, fat quarters, or chunks of fabric. Next trade our bag for anothers' and make a block or blocks from the bag before passing that bag on to the next person. This is the results of the first round. I decided on "hearts" as you can see. I'd been looking at this pattern for a couple of years and finally had the opportunity to work on it.

Anyway, Al, our cruise guy is working furiously to get everything done and you all will get updates often. Oh boy, we're really going. Try to remember where you put your suitcase, that's the first order of business. LOL

Rollin' Along

What you're looking at are a caster wheelie thingies. I really don't know what it's called but I love it. I put them on my sewing table and file cabinet. Yes girls......I did it myself with my trusty power screwdriver, lots of screws, some extra pieces of wood, a saw and a pencil for marking. After a hour of drilling, marking and sawing I was ready to turn over and roll around. Sure enough, it works like a charm. Now I can rearrange my sewing area again and again and again. LOL

It's All Yours

I'm remodeling my sewing room and ran across these items. There are different types of laces, ribbing, bindings, etc. It can be all yours for "free." I haven't used any of these things in years and need to get rid of them. I thought about throwing them away but as you all know....that's impossible for a quilter. So I'm posting to see if anyone is interested. If you are it's first response.......leave your name and address when you comment and I'll mail it to you very, very soon!

Wacky Emblem

Jerri suggested that the WackyPac come up with something so that the 10 of us could be more uniformed. Ha, ha, ha! Jerri is so funny. Anyway, after weeks of sleepless nights this is what I came up with.

Austin Texas

Our state capitol building at sunset taken from Congress Avenue.
The interesting picture to the left was taken in the Austin Convention Center. It's one of several ceilings.
Austin was a blast.....the flowers, the Colorado River, shopping and even the bats. Yes, I said bats. A friend and I waited for them to appear a dusk. I know, I know...I'm skiddish about anything that flies, crawls, slithers, flutters, etc., etc., etc. But bats eat insects....so yippy skippy....I love bats.

;-}

Don't count the days, make the days count!
