Shopping

Today I drove myself over to Tyler for alittle bit of shopping. Of course I visited both quilt shops and lightened their inventory. Then on to Tuesday Morning's....you can always find something in that store. Finally, I stopped in a Coldwater Creek .... boy was I glad I did. They were having a S A L E ! Well, I waded in, circled the displays on the floor just to get a feel for the place, then dove in. Several moments later with a trip to that "too little room" to try on my clothes .... my pocketbook was lighter but my spirits were lifted considerably. Shopping, there's nothing quite like it.

Grandad!

I ran across this picture of my Grandad, Edwin a few months ago and almost cried. He was so special to me and my brother. Grandad always wanted the best of us, always encouraged us to try new things, to be all that we could be. In many ways, he was ahead of his time. Grandad died in 1982 but I still sometimes expect him to walk into the room or to call me on the phone asking me to drive him somewhere. "Rhondee," he'd say, "I need you to take me to Livingston." I'm thinking is he serious ..... he always was. I miss my granddad but he's alive in my heart.

A Sewing Day

Today Annie, Kay and I were invited to sew at Kathy's. Let me tell you, it took all four Wackies to figure out a design block, auditioning fabrics, looking at books, etc., etc., etc. All in all, we achieved a lot. No matter how much time you have, use it for sewing!!!!!!!

Howdy! I am so proud of myself. If only took me six or seven hours but I've created a website for the WackyPac. Let's do this thing, girls!

Aaaaarrrrhhhhhh!

Well, I just spent about an hour trying to log-in to my own blog! A 51 year old shouldn't have to go through something so mindboggling. Anyway! I spent most of the day yesterday creating a website. I was goaded into it by my old friend Molly!!!!! I love you Molly.

"Sunday"

Today the Pastor's wife made a request of me .... "the pianist" to play something I haven't played in YEARS! Somehow, by the grace of God, I did it. "Please," I said pitifully, "no more requests. I'm praying for someone who can play the piano so that I can step down .... gladly! After church, I had time to sew. So I started a log cabin and got 24 blocks made. I'll post a pic when I finish it. Some of the Wackies have been curious about my church family, so I posted a pic. Yes, that all of us. We're small but mighty!

Making time to sew!

Today I was invited to one of my quilting friend's home to sew. I arrived around 9:45AM, set up my "stuff" and began piecing a project. All the while I thought that I wouldn't get very much done. But "low & behold" by 12 PM, I had nearly finished the project. It's amazing what you can get done in a couple of hours. So ..... sew, sew, sew.

Did it!

Well.......figured out how to get pict on page. This quilt top was one that I made two weeks ago using, of course, black, white and red fabrics. This pattern is from E. Burns' "Quilt Trip." This is a very easy pattern and can be made in a day if you're pressed for time. R. P.S. You can experiment with the sizes of the strips and really get into it. Great pattern for a Christmas present or college present.

Found it.

Well, I found my blog, thank goodness. But I don't know where my pictures are. Go figure. Anyway, I started a new quilt. This is my second "Quick Trip" . This one is made using the blue bonnet from two years ago. That's the center and one other row. I also used lite blue, dark blue, pink, red, yellow, gold, and black. It is very "springy". If I figure out how to attach pic with blog, you guys will get to see it first. R.

We try to meet every Tuesday. You'd be surprised how much you can get done in a small group. I got five blocks done within a couple of hours. Life is great!

Quilt Life

Life without piecing is not a life. 1:38AM My eyes pop open. Ah, I know what to do about that second border. Been agonizing about it for days. What to do with the corners, how wide should it be. Funny how things come to one in the middle of the night. Should I get up and act on my idea? Well, of course!
